Kicking Off My Melatonin Cycle
Knowing that I need to kick off my melatonin cycle so I can fall asleep at night is always a great motivator to get out of bed in the morning. If I don’t stand up and get exposed to sunlight as soon as I wake up, my melatonin cycle will be delayed and I will have trouble falling asleep at night.
I know, it sounds quite strict, but time has taught me it’s better than poor sleep.
Increasing a Sense of Purpose
For many of us, the answer is a sense of purpose and meaning. We are driven to do something that drives us, whether it’s helping others, creating something new, or taking on an exciting challenge.

There is nothing quite like this feeling, which is why I could never go back to not owning my business. Knowing that each day I am contributing to this process makes getting out of bed exciting.
Walking With My Dog
I’m an early riser, and my prime motivator for getting out of bed in the morning is my dog. Whether it’s raining or sunny, windy or calm outside, the fresh morning air and the sounds of birds chirping motivate and energize me for the day ahead.

A human being, usually a trans woman or nonbinary femme, who is about to have facial gender-affirming surgery, has placed an enormous amount of expectation of soon being able to see the feminine face they feel they are looking back at them in the reflection.
A person who is a sibling, daughter, friend, partner, parent, or colleague, just like anyone else, but who has been driven to surgically change facial gender markers not only to align their identity with their physical characteristics, but also, unfortunately, to survive in this world which kills transgender people or drives them to the far outskirts of society.
