That’s why we’re excited to introduce Media Discovery, a new search agent inside Featured that helps you identify relevant journalists faster, using real HARO journalist profiles and publication history.
Why We Built Media Discovery
For years, Featured has focused on helping experts respond to media opportunities. But reactive PR is only part of the job.
Many customers told us they also wanted help with proactive outreach:
- Finding journalists who actually cover their industry
- Identifying writers at specific publications
- Scaling outreach without relying on outdated lists or guesswork
Media Discovery closes that gap. It gives you a smarter, faster way to discover journalists worth pitching — directly inside Featured.
What Is Media Discovery?
Media Discovery is a conversational search agent that helps you discover relevant journalists based on your input.
Instead of filtering endless databases or manually researching writers, you can simply describe what you’re looking for — and the agent does the work.
Depending on your query, the agent may ask a clarifying question or return a curated list of relevant journalists, typically around 10 results per search.
How to Use Media Discovery
To get started, navigate to: Experts → Find Journalists
From there, you’ll open a chat with the Media Discovery agent and can search in a few different ways.
Find Journalists by Website URL
Have a press release, announcement, or blog post? Share the URL and ask the agent to find journalists who cover that topic.
Example:
“Can you help me find journalists to pitch based on this announcement?”

Find Journalists by Industry
Ask the agent to find journalists who consistently cover a specific industry or topic.
Example:
“Find me journalists covering Netsuite and Cloud ERP for an IT/CFO audience.”
Find Journalists by Location
Target journalists based in specific cities, regions, or countries.
Example:
“Find journalists covering Netsuite in San Francisco or Boston.”
Find Journalists by Publication
Identify journalists working at specific outlets.
Example:
“Find journalists at USA Today who cover travel.”
What to Expect From Results
Each search returns journalist profiles built from HARO data, when available, including:
- Journalist name and link to their HARO profile
- Industry (if available)
- Location (if available)
- X (Twitter) profile (if available)
- Previous articles
- Current or previous HARO queries (if available)
- Export to CSV for easy outreach or tracking
Depending on your input, searches may take a couple of minutes — especially if the agent is reviewing a URL or handling a complex request.
