Leverage Search Operators for Free Opportunities

My favorite is to use the “site:” operator along with “intext:” to find writing opportunities.

You can even get away with just using “intext.” All you have to do is add the industry you want to write for, let’s say SEO, then just type “SEO” and add “intext:” (either “guest post,” “write for us,” “contribute,” or “posting guidelines”).

This will unlock tons of websites that are open to receiving guest posts. Some may be spam, but you’ll find some gems in there. I have an entire list of 50 websites just from using this strategy. Plus, it’s entirely free too.

Wield Industry-Specific Tools and Platforms

Finding good guest-post opportunities requires a strategic approach. I use industry-specific research tools and platforms that identify websites and blogs relevant to my field. I can pinpoint the best opportunities by filtering based on domain authority, audience engagement, and content alignment.

Networking with industry peers and attending conferences also opens doors for guest posting. Building relationships with fellow professionals often leads to collaborations and guest-post invitations.

Remember, quality over quantity is key. Focus on platforms that align with your brand and can provide value to your target audience. A well-placed guest post on a reputable site can significantly enhance your visibility and credibility.

Study Your Competitors’ Backlinks

A dominant strategy to identify promising guest-post opportunities is by studying the backlinks of our competitors. This can be invaluable in recognizing websites that are likely to be interested in the content we produce, as they’ve already shown an inclination towards similar topics.

First, we use SEO tools to analyze the backlinks of our competitors. These tools can provide comprehensive data about these backlinks, including the domain authority of the linking site, the number of other backlinks on that site, and the content surrounding the backlinks.

Once we have this information, the next step is to reach out to these websites. We can propose a guest-post topic that would provide value to their audience while subtly promoting our podcast. Remember, the key here is to offer genuine value—it should be a win-win situation; otherwise, your pitch will be ignored.

Follow a Comprehensive Search Approach

Identify Your Niche: Understand your industry or niche. This will help you identify relevant websites and blogs where your content would add value.

Google Search: Use search to find guest post opportunities. For example, if you’re in the fitness industry, you could search “fitness + write for us” or “fitness + guest post”. Replace “fitness” with your niche.

Competitor Backlinks: Use SEO tools like Ahrefs to analyze the backlinks of your competitors. Look for websites where they’ve guest posted.

Direct Outreach: Contact blogs and websites directly. Send a personalized email explaining who you are, what you do, and how a guest post from you would benefit their audience.

Quality Check: Before reaching out, ensure the website or blog is reputable. Check their Domain Rating (DR) and traffic, especially. I recommend setting 30 DR and 1,000 Traffic as your minimums. Also, ensure they are actively posting new content.

Use Search Operators for Bulk Guest Postings

Using search operators can help you find guest-posting opportunities in bulk. The complete process is:

1. The search operator “inurl:” can see results that offer guest-writing opportunities. For instance, “project management” inurl:write-for-us.

2. The “&num=30” parameter can be added at the end of the URL to force Google to show dozens of results on one page, saving manual effort.

3. Instead of copying the page URL of each guest-posting website, the Chrome extension called “Scrape Similar” can be used. This free extension allows all the webpage URLs to be copied in one click. 4. The list of URLs can then be pasted into a Google sheet.

This process will take only a few minutes to get 100+ guest-posting opportunities for a specific niche. It is recommended to add three more columns to the sheet for “site traffic” and “domain authority.” This provides a list of websites that have a good backlink profile and decent site traffic.

Target High-DR, Niche-Aligned Platforms

As an IT consulting company in the B2B sector, we actively seek valuable guest-post opportunities to share our expertise and experience. When searching for platforms, we prioritize websites that align with our niche and have a DR above 40, ensuring credibility and influence.

It’s essential for the website’s audience to match our B2B target market. We carefully assess the content quality, engagement, and backlink policy to make informed choices. Adhering to guest-post guidelines is a must, and we analyze previous posts to gauge potential impact.

We reach out to website owners or editors with personalized pitches and target platforms that publish guest posts regularly to maximize our reach and impact.

Combine Research, Networking, and Strategy

Research, networking, and strategic thinking are key to finding good guest-post opportunities. The PR team identifies authoritative websites and blogs in the clients’ industry or niche that accept guest posts, considering factors like domain authority, relevance, and audience reach.

Networking is crucial as these connections often lead to invitations or recommendations for guest-post opportunities.

Tracking the clients’ competitors to see where they have published guest posts is part of the strategy. This analysis of their guest-posting efforts helps in identifying relevant opportunities and understanding the preferences of authoritative websites in the industry.

High-quality and personalized emails maximize the success of the guest-post pitches. These emails highlight the value the clients can provide through their guest posts, emphasizing the expertise and knowledge they can share with the target audience of the guest post.

Utilize #JournoRequest Hashtag

The #JournoRequest hashtag on X is pretty good for finding articles to comment within, but there is another layer to the hashtag where websites will reach out for guest posters, or vice versa, there will be experts looking for a place to offer their guest-posting skills.

You will need to make time to keep up with checks on the live timeline, but for anybody who maybe doesn’t already have contacts, or is just looking for some new guest post in a new niche, this hashtag can be a great tool to spend some time on to broaden your opportunities and make sure you are engaging with relevant guest posters or websites that match your ethos.

If you are doing this through a personal account, make sure your bio, links, and posts are professional, because if you are spending all of your time getting into online arguments, the connections you make could quickly be lost if they don’t want you representing them.

Directly Engage With Relevant Brands

There are no shortcuts on this one. If you want to find good guest post opportunities, you need to reach out to the brands you admire and that apply to your business and brand.

Finding a guest to write a blog for your audience might be easier than writing for someone else’s blog. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pitch your idea.

A good way to start is to search for someone to blog for you, and you can then offer to write for their audience. Joining forces gives the power to grow audiences on both sides, which can help generate leads and potentially increase sales.

Use BuzzSumo and SEMrush Tools

We use BuzzSumo and SEMrush to find good guest post opportunities. These tools are great for identifying, evaluating, and short-listing top-quality blogs related to our niche that accept guest posts.

The trick is simple: we write the niche-related keywords for guest posting in the search bar of these tools, and they fetch the detailed data of many potential blogs based on relevance, authority, and engagement metrics.

This makes it easy for us to choose the best among many guest posting opportunities. In addition, BuzzSumo and SEMrush provide insights into the content performance of the blogs with guest posting opportunities, which helps us tailor our guest posts to engage the right audience.

Search Guest-Blogging Directories

I discover excellent guest-post opportunities by utilizing guest-blogging directories. Online platforms like MyBlogGuest, Guestpost.com, and PostJoint are valuable resources to find websites that accept guest posts.

These directories enable targeted searches based on niche, audience, and specific criteria. They provide essential information about each website’s guest-posting guidelines and requirements.

By leveraging these directories, I connect with relevant and high-quality blogs, expanding my reach and establishing valuable connections in the industry.
