Be Strategic with Tags

Content syndication definitely works for SEO, but it must be used strategically. It involves republishing your content on other websites to reach a broader audience. Duplication of content can potentially harm your SEO rankings if not managed correctly.

To make syndicated content part of my SEO strategy, I ensure that the syndicated website uses a “no-index” meta tag or a canonical tag. This tells search engines that the syndicated content is a copy and gives credit to the original content on my website.

You must also syndicate your content to appropriate channels where you can reach your brand’s target audience.

Remember, while content syndication can increase your content’s visibility, it’s crucial to use it judiciously and in a way that supports your overall SEO strategy.

Take a Cautious Approach

Our team clearly understands the list of sites that syndicate content. We see this as a nice extra, not a main aim.

First, syndication goes with the same text and the Panda algorithm combats duplicate content, which makes us think that the effect of links from syndicated articles is lower than from unique ones. Second, syndicated pieces often land in a secondary index, suggesting they might not give much benefit.

And finally, even if those syndicated links deliver more authority, it is always a good idea to use pessimistic evaluation when planning.

Ensure Content Backlinks

I offer content syndication services to my clients and have helped them rank on Google’s Page 1. I earn my clients an average of 300 placements on Google News-approved websites per piece of content. But one thing to keep in mind when using syndication is that your content needs to have backlinks to your own website to gain the full benefits of syndication.

The websites syndicating the content are essentially getting their own traffic from your content. If you don’t have backlinks within that content to your own website, you won’t be able to capitalize on that traffic nor will you move the needle on your backlink portfolio.

Even though the original article is published on your website, you’ll need to include internal links too. This way, when your content is published on other websites, readers on those websites will have a way to reach your website.

Try TrustQuotes

While content syndication isn’t typically beneficial for SEO due to potential duplicate content issues, some solutions, like TrustRadius’s TrustQuotes, can be exceptions.

TrustQuotes uses user-generated content to enhance SEO effectively. It allows customization, management, and performance tracking of syndicated content. In this way, TrustQuotes provides an innovative approach to incorporating syndicated content into an SEO strategy.

Strive for Balance in Content

Content syndication can be an effective strategy for SEO if approached with careful consideration. Syndicated content allows you to expand your reach and attract backlinks from authoritative sources, which can boost your website’s visibility and authority.

However, it’s essential to address the issue of duplicate content by implementing canonical tags or indicating the original source. When selecting platforms for syndication, prioritize reputable websites that cater to your target audience. Ensure proper attribution and contextual linking to maintain a strong connection between the syndicated content and your website.

Strive for a balance between syndicated and original content, focusing on quality and relevance. Monitor the performance of syndicated content, analyzing its impact on traffic, engagement, and conversions. Regularly assess the value and effectiveness of syndication channels, making adjustments as needed to optimize your SEO strategy.

Improve Site Authority

Getting do-follow links from sites relevant to your niche is the way to go if you want to improve your site’s rating. This is because the referring site shares its SEO link juice with your site. However, syndicated posts are usually “no-follow.”

Though earlier thought to have no value, syndicated posts can improve a site’s authority. This is because another site associates the expertise of your site with their articles.
