My most in-demand service is optimizing existing content using Surfer SEO. This service is so valuable that I primarily work with clients who are willing to obtain their own account. With it, I can run a content audit and identify which pages are most likely to rank quickly. I recommend prioritizing content that is monetized.
The first step is to enter the primary and secondary keyword phrases for a specific piece of content. There is a built-in keyword research tool, or you can use whichever one you prefer. After entering an existing URL, Surfer pulls the content into the dashboard. Then it starts analyzing it against competitor research.
Based on the top 10-20 sites ranking for your keyword phrases, Surfer provides detailed recommendations. It selects the best competing content by default. However, the user can add or remove specific competitors from the analysis. Each competitor’s content is given an overall score.
The goal is to optimize what you write to be better than all competitors’ content. Using Surfer’s suggestions, your content can include everything competitors cover. You decide what is most relevant and what you might want to leave out.
The score is based on content length, number of images, proper use of sub-titles, and depth of coverage. Surfer recommends how many words and images to include. It also provides the keyword phrases to add as sub-titles and to the body of the text.
Surfer offers AI that can create the content for you. Personally, I prefer to write my own. However, many love the numerous automated features that can do it all for them. The Surfer Team constantly researches and adds new features. Best of all, they share research to ensure their scoring system remains accurate. It is definitely my favorite content marketing tool.
