Victor Hsi, Founder, UGC Creator Community

This interview is with Victor Hsi, founder of UGC Creator Community.

Victor, can you tell us a bit about yourself, your background, and what led you to becoming a SEO growth hacker specializing in domain names and programmatic SEO?

I began as a curator for Twitter theme pages, specializing in user-generated content that went viral. About seven years ago, I amassed a following of 2 million users and started investing in usernames to expedite growth through Twitter SEO.

Eventually, I delved into SEO and began purchasing domain names, as they require similar skill sets but operate on different platforms.

Programmatic SEO, using exact-match domain names, has become an easy method for generating leads and sales.

Your journey to founding UGCcreator.com sounds fascinating! Could you walk us through the steps and decisions that led you to create a platform connecting brands with UGC creators?

Previously, this was a DTC incubator with a business partner who owns a stationary brick-and-mortar company. However, I took it over as a digital product store and agency, as it seemed more fitting given the significant growth and audience of UGC creators in the past few months.

You mentioned acquiring the domain name ‘UGCCreator.com’ was a game-changer. Can you elaborate on the strategic thinking behind that decision and share any tips for identifying valuable domain names?

Owning the exact keyword with a search volume of 50,000/month and having the ability to rank for the term through growth-hacking and acquisition made it an easy choice. Furthermore, the domain name generates leads on a daily basis, further proving its value.

I recommend finding a domain name that not only aligns with your brand but also has significant search volume.

For those unfamiliar with programmatic SEO, could you explain your process of creating 200 landing pages targeting localized terms like ‘UGC Creator in Japan’? What were some key learnings or best practices you discovered?

AI content creation is still effective. With a well-crafted prompt, you can produce 100 pages with just a single click. Programmatic SEO doesn’t need to be complex with the perfect dataset.

How do you determine which keywords to target with your programmatic SEO strategy, especially when it comes to niche terms like ‘UGC Creator’ combined with specific locations?

All you require is an understanding of the search behaviors people commonly use. The search volume on tools doesn’t necessarily reflect user intent.

You’ve successfully pivoted your strategies multiple times, particularly from DTC incubation to focusing on UGC creators. How do you stay ahead of the curve and identify emerging trends in the SEO and digital marketing landscape?

We make it a point to implement tests and strategies every week to keep afloat. Having rank trackers in place allows us to see fluctuations and keep an eye on performance. We also maintain a set of test sites for experimental purposes to explore new strategies and trends.

What are some common challenges businesses face when implementing programmatic SEO, and what advice would you give to overcome those hurdles?

Overcomplicating the process.

Programmatic SEO only requires the basics to rank: your headings, title, and content.

You don’t need complex, up-to-date datasets to rank.

With the ever-evolving digital landscape, how do you see the future of domain name acquisition and programmatic SEO evolving, especially within the context of UGC and influencer marketing?

The market can only buy a limited number of domain names, making it a scarcity play.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the value of acquiring domain names that align with key search terms will increase.

While anyone can generate UGC, it can get lost in the crowd. Therefore, creators should invest in strong brand names to stand out.

What’s next for you and UGCcreator.com? Are there any exciting projects or developments in the pipeline that you can share with our readers?

We’re currently developing a series of courses aimed at helping entry-level UGC creators transition from user-generated content creation to becoming full-fledged creators. These digital marketing courses will provide the necessary tools and knowledge to explore other ventures within the digital space.
